Mike Tyson is set to make a return to the ring, facing off against Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Arlington, Texas, on July 20, 2024.
In a nostalgic trip back to his childhood neighborhood of Brownsville, Brooklyn, Tyson engaged in a lighthearted street skirmish with former boxer Shannon Briggs.
The duo revisited the area that holds significant memories from Tyson’s youth as he prepares for his upcoming bout against Paul.
Accompanied by Briggs and surrounded by locals, Tyson and Briggs shared a moment of friendly tension, which evolved into a playful slap-boxing match.
Although no serious blows were exchanged, both fighters removed their shirts and raised their fists, with the mock altercation ending in laughter after Briggs attempted to lift Tyson’s leg.
Tyson shared a video of the incident on social media, captioning it, “Brownsville’s finest always ready for a brawl. Love this guy.” Briggs also posted a different angle of the playful scuffle, noting the location and humorously referring to a bystander as the referee.
This return to Brownsville holds significance for Tyson, reflecting on his challenging upbringing detailed in his memoir, “The Undisputed Truth.”
Despite facing adversity and fear in his youth, boxing provided Tyson with a path out of his troubled past, leading to a legendary career marked by numerous victories and accolades.
Now 58 years old, Tyson remains a captivating figure in the world of boxing, with fans eagerly anticipating his showdown with Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium. The bout will be streamed live on Netflix, showcasing Tyson’s enduring appeal and continued relevance in the sport.
