Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson won’t be a professional boxing match as initially speculated.
Initially, the announcement of ‘The Problem Child’ squaring off against ‘Iron Mike’ left fans stunned, though details about the fight were scarce.
What fans did learn was that the event would be broadcast on Netflix, with a venue set at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, accommodating 80,000 spectators.
While early reports hinted at a professional matchup, this sparked backlash from fans and even UFC President Dana White, who criticized Paul’s choice to fight the 57-year-old Tyson, jokingly suggesting he might take on Clint Eastwood next.
In a recent interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Mike Tyson confirmed that the fight wouldn’t be professional but rather an exhibition, akin to his 2020 comeback bout against Roy Jones Jr.
Given Tyson’s age, this revelation wasn’t surprising, yet he vowed to bring a genuine fight to the YouTuber.
Tyson emphasized that despite its exhibition status, it would be a serious confrontation, unlike typical exhibition matches.
“This is called an exhibition,” Tyson clarified in the interview. “But if you look up exhibition, you will not see any of the laws that we’re fighting under. This is a fight.”
While exhibition matches typically don’t affect one’s official record and often feature headgear and lack judges, Tyson noted that this one would forego headgear, with no confirmation on judging.
As Tyson prepares to face Paul, he expressed a mixture of nerves and confidence, asserting his belief in his invincibility while expressing no personal animosity towards his opponent.
