Anthony Joshua admits unified world champion Mike Tyson would have destroyed him in a fight: “He was a beast”.

Anthony Joshua has openly acknowledged that if he had faced former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in a fight, he would have been no match for the American powerhouse.

Reflecting on Tyson’s dominance during his prime, Joshua conceded that he wouldn’t stand a chance against him, even if they had been active in the same era.

Tyson’s reign as the unified, undisputed heavyweight champion solidified his status as one of boxing’s greatest legends.

Joshua expressed his admiration for Tyson’s prowess, admitting that facing him would have been beyond his capabilities.

In Joshua’s own words: “Mike Tyson would have battered me.

There was no way I could have taken on that guy.

I would have taken that pay cheque.

You know what I done against Klitschko in that sixth round when I took that dive? I’m joking.

I would have taken a dive against Tyson. He was a beast.”

Despite Tyson’s age now, Joshua still vividly recalls the impact he made in his prime, acknowledging Tyson’s lasting legacy in the sport.

While Joshua is carving out his own legacy as a champion, particularly with his recent thrilling victory over Wladimir Klitschko, he remains uncertain about how he would have stacked up against Tyson.

As he prepares for his next fight, potentially against Klitschko in a rematch or against Deontay Wilder, Joshua continues to navigate his path in the heavyweight division.
