Jake Paul’s manager has spoken out against the criticism and debunked rumors surrounding the upcoming fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.
Scheduled for July 20th in Arlington, Texas, the bout will mark a significant moment as it will be part of Netflix’s first-ever live boxing card, available for free to existing subscribers.
Amid speculation about the fight’s rules, including claims made by heavyweight boxer Derek Chisora suggesting it would be a sparring contest with headgear and 18oz gloves, Jake Paul’s manager, Nakisa Bidarian of Most Valuable Promotions, took to Instagram to set the record straight.
In a statement, Bidarian clarified, “Unequivocally there is no headgear for Paul vs Tyson. Haters spreading fake news but it won’t stop the 10’s of millions of views.”
The fight is anticipated to be one of the most-watched boxing events in modern history, according to Bidarian, who expressed excitement about the matchup’s potential in a press release.
Mike Tyson, retired since 2005 after a defeat to Kevin McBride, returned to the ring for an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr.
in November 2020. Jake Paul, with a professional record of 9-1, is gearing up for this bout after his recent victory over Ryan Bourland.
His sole loss came against Tommy Fury, via split decision, in Saudi Arabia in February. Fury, in turn, has only fought once since, defeating KSI by unanimous decision in October.
