Jake Paul’s anticipated debut in the PFL may not happen this year as originally planned.
Despite signing with the MMA promotion and beginning training in the sport, including practicing leg kicks, the YouTube sensation has yet to step into the cage.
Instead, he has continued to focus on his boxing career, with his next bout against heavyweight legend Mike Tyson scheduled for July 20.
PFL chief Donn Davis provided an update on Paul’s MMA debut during a media scrum, indicating that it will be postponed until further notice.
Davis acknowledged Paul’s commitment to combat sports but noted that his focus on boxing has delayed his progress in MMA.
While Paul’s debut in the PFL was expected this year, he has made it clear that boxing takes priority for him.
Despite this, he verbally offered an MMA rematch to former boxing opponent Nate Diaz, but a contest has yet to materialize.
Since signing with the PFL, Paul has secured victories over Andre August in December 2023 and Ryan Bourland in March 2024.
However, criticism surrounds his upcoming bout with Tyson due to the significant age gap between them.
Despite this, Paul sees the fight as a golden opportunity and believes Tyson’s power is still formidable, as evidenced by recent training footage showcasing Tyson’s speed.
