The complexity of this legal saga deepens with the involvement of another artist, Big Freedia, whose track “Explode” is said to have been sampled in Beyoncé’s Renaissance hit “Break My Soul.” Da Showstoppaz contends that elements of their composition, including “unique phrases, melody, and musical arrangement,” were incorporated into “Break My Soul” without proper authorization or compensation. This alleged infringement, they argue, ultimately extends to JAY-Z and Beyoncé due to their association with the sampled material.
