Conor McGregor has shared his thoughts on the surprising announcement that Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will face off this summer.
The boxing world was taken aback when ‘Iron Mike’ decided to come out of retirement to fight YouTuber Jake Paul, who is 30 years his junior.
Veteran boxer Tyson, 58, hasn’t fought since an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020. His last professional bout was in 2005 when he lost to Kevin McBride.
Jake Paul, on the other hand, has quickly climbed the ranks in boxing by defeating several former MMA stars, including Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, and Nate Diaz, before losing to professional boxer Tommy Fury last year.
Many believed Paul was shifting his focus to traditional boxers after beating professionals Andre August and Ryan Bourland. However, he has chosen another high-profile, lucrative fight against a boxing legend, leaving fans and experts puzzled.
Conor McGregor has called the match-up between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson ‘strange’ and expressed little interest in watching it.
‘Oh jeez,’ the Irishman commented when asked about the fight by Happy Punch. ‘It’s a bit strange, you know. My interest is low. I don’t know. I don’t understand it. I wish well for Mike [Tyson].’
