Joe Rogan suggests that Jake Paul might be feeling a little uneasy after Mike Tyson’s recent comments leading up to their fight.
The heavyweight legend and the YouTube sensation turned boxer are set to collide in a controversial match on July 20 in Texas.
Tyson, who is making a return to the ring, has made some eyebrow-raising statements about his training regimen, including eating raw meat to prepare for his first professional fight in over 20 years.
Rogan, a UFC commentator, believes Tyson’s intimidating claim might psychologically affect Paul even before they step into the ring.
Speaking on his podcast, Rogan recounted Tyson’s words: “He goes, ‘I just eat raw meat.
I’m eating raw meat.’ He goes, ‘You’re eating raw meat?’ He goes, ‘Yeah, I’m eating raw meat.’ He goes, ‘Because that’s what I’m going to eat when I fight.
I’m going to eat him, just raw meat.’ Jesus Christ, he’s in this fing mode. He’s in that God of war mode. Bro, he’s in savage mode. If I was Jake Paul right now, I would be s*ing my pants.”
Tyson has also revealed that he has abstained from sex and smoking weed during his training to maintain discipline.
In addition to his raw meat diet, Tyson chillingly warned, “I’m going to have to eat it now because my opponent’s going to be raw meat.”
While red meats and some fish can be consumed raw, it’s not recommended due to the risk of illness-causing bacteria.
During Tyson’s prime, he consumed up to 4,000 calories a day, consisting of steak, pasta, chicken, rice, and fruits. Paul, on the other hand, plans to bulk up to 240lb (17st 1lb) during training before cutting down to 220lb (15st 10lb) for the fight, aiming to enhance his strength and speed.
As Tyson’s training methods and statements continue to raise eyebrows, the psychological impact on Paul remains a topic of speculation leading up to the highly anticipated bout.
