Lennox Lewis, the most recent undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, is currently contemplating a return to the boxing arena, spurred by the upcoming comeback of Mike Tyson, who is set to face Jake Paul later this year.
As the last undisputed heavyweight champion, reigning in 2000, Lewis holds a distinguished place in boxing history.
However, the possibility of a new champion emerging is on the horizon, with Tyson Fury defending his WBC title against Oleksandr Usyk, who puts his WBA (super), IBF, and WBO titles on the line.
Should there be a definitive winner, it would mark the first undisputed heavyweight champion in nearly 25 years.
Lewis’s career boasts an impressive record of 41 wins out of 44 fights, with only two losses to Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman, along with a draw against Evander Holyfield.
His retirement in 2004 marked the end of an era in heavyweight boxing.
However, the allure of the ring still beckons Lewis. In a recent interview with The Guardian discussing Tyson’s return, Lewis hinted at a potential comeback, acknowledging that “money talks.” At 58, the same age as Tyson, the prospect of a return to boxing isn’t entirely out of the question for Lewis, especially if the financial incentive is substantial.
