The time Mike Tyson ‘almost beat up’ Michael Jordan at party in 1988

Mike Tyson and Michael Jordan, titans of the sports world, allegedly had a tense encounter many years ago.

The story dates back to 32 years ago when Tyson and Jordan found themselves dining together in Chicago at the birthday celebration of NFL star Richard Dent.

Prominent figures like Don King and Tyson’s co-manager Rory Holloway were also in attendance. Holloway recounted the incident in his book “Taming the Beast: The Untold Story of Team Tyson.”

In 1988, Tyson was undefeated and at the height of his boxing career, but his marriage to actress Robin Givens was crumbling.

Jordan, a rising star with the Chicago Bulls, had previously dated Givens, which, combined with Tyson’s consumption of alcohol, allegedly led to a confrontation.

According to Holloway, Tyson, fueled by his drink of choice, a Long Island Tea, confronted Jordan, accusing him of involvement with Givens.

Jordan was reportedly taken aback and declined to engage in the conversation, preferring to avoid conflict.

Despite Ditka’s dismissal of the incident as “silly,” and Dent’s assertion that it was a minor exchange, Holloway stood by his account.

He described the scene as chaotic, with Tyson threatening Jordan while others attempted to defuse the situation.
